Film: Of Seas and Silence

This winter I’ve been working with Cathy Henenberg (Photographer) and Lynn-Maree Milburn (Film maker) on a short film.

We’ve been very lucky to have such a talented group of people join us to bring this film to life. In the early developmental stage of this project, we were joined by dancer Linda Sastrapradja. In the final iterations of the film we have dancers Michelle Heaven and Caroline Meaden working in the project. Lynn-Maree Milburn is directing with long time colleague Andrew De Groot behind the camera.

We’re excited to develop this expressive reflection on the experiences of living during a pandemic, travelling through a sensory realm heightened by isolation and re-emerging into a changed world. The impetus for the film grew out of Cathy Henenberg’s photographic exhibition, “I voyaged quite alone in the silence of this magic sea.” Of Seas and Silence is sculpting its way into a beautiful and sensory snapshot of this time.

As always funding has been minimal. Peoples’ support and generosity has been wonderful. We’ve set up a crowd fund appeal to help bring this project to fruition. Any support is always appreciated. Also we’d love to see you all at the screening, which will be in November 2023, and welcome any interest you may have in this exploration.
