Meet Wendy

Wendy Smith

Wendy Smith is deeply interested in how we move in a state of easeful strength.

She has a number of paths through which she pursues this interest, including dance, structural integration, remedial massage, pilates and teaching embodied anatomy.  Wendy aims to help everyone she works with to feel comfortable in their body and gain maximum ease of movement.

Her background encompasses training in dance, mainly Skinner Releasing Technique, Contemporary Dance and Contact Improvisation. She was a founding member of State of Flux Dance Company. She danced, taught, researched and performed with this group for 11 years.

Wendy also spent time in the USA working with Joan Skinner where she gained her qualification as a Skinner Releasing Technique teacher.

Wendy designed and taught the kinesiology curriculum in the tertiary dance department of the Victorian College of the Arts and Music, Melbourne University for over 20 years.

Furthering her investigation of the intricacies and unfolding jigsaw puzzle of the body, Wendy has developed a strong remedial massage practice  since 1991, as well as qualifying as a Structural Integrator in 2013.

Wendy also brings to her palette of work a Pilates practice which operates 4 mornings a week.

She founded and managed Studio 202 for 15 years and now runs this small boutique practice.

In all these areas of physical engagement Wendy brings a broad array of skills, perception and understanding of the possibilities of the body in movement. Wendy loves to work with a broad range of people.
